Media Arts Screenplay Competition | Film Committee Member Volunteers Needed CACC is in the process of Recuiting volunteers who would like to serve on the Filmmaker's Committee. June 14, 2009--Duvall, WA CACC Filmmaker's Committee strives to encourage artistic innovation, promote new and creative filmmaking, and foster discussion about independent film and other forms of media which preserve our culture, challenge our thinking and entertain the public. The Primary Objective of the Cascade Screenplay Competition is to bring the interdisciplinary talents which are prolific in our region together to afford opportunity and leverage talent. The competiton will act as a vehicle to find and foster the next generation of the regions most innovative and creative screenwriters. The CACC Filmmaker's Committee recognizes that every great film needs a compelling story, the competition is dedicated to supporting talented screenwriters by utilizing the resources of the regional film community to foster the winning screenwriters through one-on-one advisor sessions, networking opportunities, and film industry access. According to CACC President and veteran filmmaker, Tracy Paddock Beam, one of the key criteria for screenplay eligibility will be geographical setting. "We hope that by requiring the setting and primary localtions to be in the Snoqualmie Valley, we will provide vehicles for sharing our rich culture and the diversity of the area" said Tracy. "Short and Feature Length Film Categories will be designated for both Youth (17 and Under) and Adult (18 and Over). At this point all genres will be accepted. We really want to encourage submission from all ages and backgrounds." Full details on the competition itself will be released in Early July. The competiton will award prizes to the top three winners. "We are still soldifying our award packages with sponsors but have been pleased with the response thus far. Our winners will receive recognition at a ceremony which will include a Producers Panel to discuss the merits of finalist submissions." Additional recognition will be provided, through the CACC newsletter, website and program guide, as well as in an official statewide press release. "The real value is in the cross industry connections we hope our competitors will make as part of the process. Already we have Filmmaker's Claudia Christian, John Morrissey, and Maricel Pagulayan who have agreed to particpate on the Producers Panel." Immediately the Filmmaker's Committee is in need of an Event Coordinator to support the Cascade Screenplay Competiton Seminar and Producer's Panel, as well as experienced filmmakers to participate in the selection committee. | Performing Arts Sound Equipment | Technical Equipment Fundraising Project
Fundraising efforts are underway to acquire new Vocal and Musical Sound Equipment. The overall project goal totals $40,000. In 2008, CACC was award a $10,000 Equipment grant from 4Culture and has raised nearly 50% of the remaining funds through donations and volunteer corporate matching funds. The primary goals are to increase quality, mobility and diversity of performing arts educational opportunities. All proposed equipment is designed to be mobile and to adapt to the environment. Rather than outfitting just one venue, the equipment is designed to move with the programs, literally making all of Snoqualmie Valley a stage (parks, school theatres, restaurants, senior centers, community centers, streets and alleys, etc.). This supports CACC’s goal to reach a broader and more diverse audience, as well as increasing our ability to reach more underserved areas, populations and communities in the Snoqualmie Valley. Besides supporting our local talent, having mobile sound equipment will allow us to support the needs of visiting performers such as theatre simple, Teen SummerStage, Lecture Series, etc. The equipment will enable visiting lecturers, authors, musicians, theatre and dance troupes to provide more diverse education and entertainment to valley residents. Benefits include, higher quality programs, broader audience, scheduling flexibility due to lack of venue dependency, and reduced expense. Please contact us if you are interested in supporting CACC to complete reaching its goal by making a tax free donation or becoming a corporate sponsor. | | | | | | | | | | | |
